This explains what we collect, why we have it, who else touches it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do. There is one thing we cannot undo, and it has a section of its own rather than a footnote.
PartyOf Co., a Delaware corporation with its place of business at 5550 Glades Road, Suite 610, Boca Raton, Florida 33431, United States, is the controller of the personal information described here. Write to privacy@partyofco.com about anything in this policy, including a request to see, correct or delete what we hold.
This policy covers partyofco.com and the member application at partyofco.com/app.
We ask for an email address, a chosen name and a country, and we keep what you write at a table. We show your writing to the people seated with you, and to nobody else unless every one of them agrees to publish it. We do not sell anything about you, we do not advertise, we run no analytics, and we do not use what you write to train machine learning models. We store a one-way hash of the network address you connect from rather than the address itself. Everything is held in the United States.

We do not run analytics. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel, no third-party script that follows you, and no profile built about you from your behaviour.
We set no tracking cookies. Your browser keeps your sign-in token in its own local storage so that you stay signed in; clearing your browser data removes it and signs you out. The sign-in page may run a Cloudflare check that distinguishes a person from a machine, which sets what it needs for that purpose alone.
We use a small number of service providers, each of which handles information only on our instructions and only in order to run the service. They are:
Nobody else is involved in showing you a page. The typefaces are served from partyofco.com rather than from a font service, so loading a page does not tell any third party that you were here.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising, as those terms are used in United States state privacy law. We have never done either.
We do not use what you write to train machine learning models. If that ever changes it will be because you chose it, for particular writing, in the same way you choose whether a finished table is published — not because we changed this policy.
We disclose information otherwise only where the law requires it, where it is necessary to protect somebody from serious harm, or to a party acquiring our business, in which case this policy continues to apply until members are told of a change.
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. PartyOf Co. is a United States company and collects your information directly from you, wherever you are.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, this means your information is handled in a country whose laws differ from your own. We are not certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or other appropriate safeguards recognized under applicable data protection law. We handle your information under this policy, under the General Data Protection Regulation where it applies to us, and under our contracts with the providers listed above, each of which is bound to handle it only as we instruct.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the legal bases we rely on are these:

These periods are enforced by the service itself rather than by anybody remembering to run something. Backups are held for a short period and are overwritten in the normal course; a deletion works through them as they roll.
You may close your account at any time by writing to privacy@partyofco.com. When you do, we delete your email address, the name you wrote under, your country and region, your private notes, your marks, your sign-in records and the record of email we sent you.
What you wrote at a table is different, and we would rather say so here than surprise you later. Two or three other people wrote their own accounts in response to yours, under a rule that nobody reads before they write. Removing your entry afterwards would take away part of what they wrote and part of what they agreed to. So on closing your account we detach your writing from you: your name is removed and the entry is no longer attributable to you or linked to any account. The text itself remains at that table for the people who were seated there.
If a table of yours was published in the public reading room, you may withdraw your own writing from it entirely, and that withdrawal does remove the text. The Terms of Use set out how.
If you believe your circumstances mean an entry should be removed from a private table as well, write to us and say so. We will consider it, and we will tell you what we decide and why.
Wherever you live, and whether or not a law in your country gives you the right, you may ask us to:
Write to privacy@partyofco.com. We answer within thirty days, and sooner where we can. We will not charge you, refuse you service, or treat you any differently for asking.
We will need to be satisfied that the request comes from you. Usually it is enough that it comes from the email address on the account. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows one, and we will ask for proof of that authority.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your data protection supervisory authority. We would rather you came to us first, but that right is yours regardless.
Connections to the service are encrypted. Your password is held only as a hash, by our authentication provider, and cannot be read by us. Nothing in the database is reachable from a browser: every read and write goes through our own server-side code, which checks who is asking before it answers. What members write is sealed until they have written their own, and that rule is enforced in one place rather than in the page, so that it cannot be worked around by asking differently.
No service can promise that nothing will ever go wrong. If a breach affects your information we will tell you, and the relevant authority, as the law requires and as quickly as we can establish what happened.
The service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anybody under eighteen. If you believe a child has an account, write to privacy@partyofco.com and we will close it and delete what we hold.
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we do with your information, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
